***Product Review***
Chilly, Horsetail & Black Seed Hair Serum/ oil from @juicy_chemistry
An insight to the major ingredients listed:
๐ถ️ Red pepper seeds - Chilly seed has anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and analesgic properties.
๐ฟ Horsetail (เฎுเฎคிเฎฐைเฎตாเฎฒி) - Has antibacterial properties. This contains silica and selenium which prevents hair thinning & promotes hair growth.
๐ Black seed - This oil has anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties and Vivo studies have stated that antihistamines in this might help reduces seasonal shedding of hair in Alopecia patients.
.
Oil color: A crimson red.
Price: 1050 INR for 30 ml.
My take on this product: Not satisfactory.๐
.
Pros:
๐ It has a strong aroma that stays for a while, but I like that❤️.
๐ Reduced hairfall to an extent.
๐ Needs only 3-4 pumps for a time, little goes a long way.
๐ Reduces scalp itching. So a great help for me in that case. ❤️
.
Cons:
๐ The pump bottle didn't work for me after a month. (bad luck) It doesn't pump the oil anymore.
๐ Works on scalp, but not much benefit to hair texture.
Repurchase? Uhm, May be not if it works only for the scalp๐.
⚠️
Now looking at the ingredients uses as per their website, I have few more questions on this.๐ฃ
. ๐ญ It says 'Chilly seed oil has capsaicin as an active ingredient which helps in stimulating blood circulation on the scalp that directly helps promotes hair growth." in the description.๐ค
.
๐ญ I got into study mode and searched for everything related to "capsaicin and hair growth" and found it rooted back to a study in 2007, which stated "that combined administration of capsaicin and isoflavone might increase IGF-I production in hair follicles in the skin, thereby promoting hair growth".
.
๐ญ Yes capsicum has capsaicin and sunflower seeds have isoflavones..but, the conclusion was made after evaluating 'Subcutanaeous administration and oral administration' of these two ingredients, which means they were applied/injected under the skin or taken as oral supplements.
.
๐ญ There were several other articles that stated "When included in the diet,it stimulated blood circulation".
๐ญ The other ingredient Horsetail, has been revealed by studies to reduce hair thinning when administered as oral supplements.
๐ญ So, how effective are these ingredients in delivering what they claim to do, while used as topical application?
๐ญ I m no expert of this subject, but just a curious consumer. Please feel free to enlighten me on these. Do send me links to related studies if any.❤️
